2019 NBA Trade Deadline: Utah Jazz’s prized FA target Tobias Harris traded to Philadelphia 76ers

Utah’s trade deadline and free agency plans got a little bit more complicated.

The Philadelphia 76ers have pushed all their chips to the center of the table and are going for it. The Los Angeles Clippers agreed upon a trade that sends the Utah Jazz’s prized target in free agency in 2019, Tobias Harris, to the Philadelphia 76ers. The move allows the Clippers to have a ton of cap space in order to court free agents in the upcoming blockbuster summer. For the Sixers, they have an elite Big 4 of Ben Simmons, Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid. It’s the ultimate modern lineup.

For Utah this might complicate the trade deadline. Tobias Harris has been seen priority #1 with many linking Utah with the stretch 4. This could be a stronger indication that the Clippers felt the NBA buzzards swirling around for Tobias. Now they don’t have to worry about losing him forever. But for Utah now they’re not trying to pry him away from a team that is angling for cap space. Now they’ll have to pry him away from a potential Eastern Conference Finals representative. Still possible, especially if Jimmy Butler goes nuclear like he’s prone to do.
