Woj: Knicks expected to discuss moving Porzingis (Update: He gone)

Kristaps Porzingis could be on the move as well.

NBA: Utah Jazz at New York Knicks Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Well ... that was quick. Kristaps Porzingis is now a Dallas Maverick.

The Western Conference is a nightmare fueled thunderdome of pain, and it just got more intense. Utah’s got to ante up before the competition get more fierce.

The NBA Trade Deadline has lost its damn mind. Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelbourne of ESPN.com are reporting that Kristaps Porzingis is not happy in New York nor content with their culture and direction as a team. Many around the league expect New York to began discussing moving the unicorn to greener pastures.

Porzingis, sidelined for nearly a year with an ACL injury, can become a restricted free agent this summer. Increasing tensions on both sides could culminate with the Knicks initiating trade talks prior to Thursday’s trade deadline or in the offseason to move Porzingis out of New York, league sources said.

His uncertain standing with the Knicks has been the focus of multiple teams around the league, who’ve wondered if there would be pathway to acquire him, front office sources told ESPN.

While it remains to be seen what teams New York would be interested in engaging in trade negotiations with, the market for Kristaps Porzingis is sure to be just as crowded as the one for Anthony Davis, if not more so. Porzingis is a RFA and a team has the prospect of keeping him for four more years. If you’re a small market team like Utah, this is a prime opportunity to throw the house at New York in order to pair Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert with another star and not have to worry about them leaving for 3-4 years.

What looked to be a slow trade deadline has now become a madhouse.
